I am 37; originally from New Jersey, but now living in Anchorage, Alaska. I have always been artistically inclined and many people have told me that I should seek out a career in art. I never did; instead I ended up working in one dead-end job after another. For the past 15 years of my life I feel I have been dormant, always thinking one day that I might become a serious artist. Then came the horrific acts that took place September 11, 2001. This wakened me to the reality that life is very short; we cannot afford to put off our dreams and aspirations. So, for the past two years I have continued to work full time and am currently attending the University of Alaska Anchorage seeking a BFA degree. All the works you see here have been completed within the last two years.

I am attracted to scenes involving strong clear light, that will cast strong shadows for subject matter. I look for a composition of strong dark and light patterns to create a dynamic tension and energy in a piece. My work is drawn from the realism of nature, but the overall pattern sometimes creates a sort of abstraction. Color is planned to enhance the tensions and drama in my overall compositions. I hope my artwork will help the viewer gain a different perspective of the world and its beauty ....
